One of the UK’s largest city centre schemes under construction outside of London has recently undergone preparation works with the completion of the piling contact led by geotechnical specialist, Bachy Soletanche Limited (BSL). The project, at Snow Hill in Birmingham, is a 96,000sq metre mixed use development set in the heart of Birmingham’s business district, featuring two towers that contain residential apartments and a five star hotel.

In a contract worth around £800,000, BSL will oversee all environmental works as the project’s main contractor.

Bachy Soletanche Limited (BSL), a leading geotechnical engineering firm is currently preparing ground works at one of Manchester’s landmark areas, Potato Wharf in Castlefield. BSL’s half a million pound contract will be spilt into two visits, with the first constructing a secant wall and high level bearing piles and the second to construct lower level bearing piles.
The final project will house 213 waterside apartments, in two eight storey blocks, overlooking the famous iron Cheshire Lines viaduct. The buildings due to be constructed for Crosby Lend Lease are set to be a mixture of old and new – complimenting the surrounding area with their deep grey façade, to blend with the nearby iron viaduct, and their brightly coloured features designed to foreground the passing canal boats.

Leading geotechnical specialist, Bachy Soletanche Limited, has completed a £1m+ piling contract at Shepherds Bush (Central Line) Underground station - constructing two shafts for step-free access from the underground platforms. The shafts were constructed for the redevelopment using the hard/firm secant wall piling method during a five month programme working for Morgan Est who is the Principal Contractor.

The purpose of the slurry trench works were to permanently isolate the proposed built development within the site - preventing the ingress of any potential contaminants from the adjoining landfill via both permeable fill and natural ground.

Leading geotechnical specialist, Bachy Soletanche Limited (BSL) has completed piling work for a €15million Waterfront office development at the heart of Carlow – one of Ireland’s fastest growing towns. The project involved the construction of a bored pile secant wall; one of the first in the locality whilst programming work around a simultaneous re-routing of the sewer system took place. The sewer line was located directly underneath the site and although piling would not usually begin until the sewer had been re-routed, careful and innovative project programming meant that both projects could continue simultaneously.
