Bachy Soletanche expands into Yorkshire
One of the UK’s largest ground engineering firms, Bachy Soletanche Limited, has cemented its plans to expand into the Yorkshire region by opening a regional office in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The move follows the recent acquisition of the UK piling specialist firm, Simplex Foundations, which will continue to trade under the same name. However, previously based in Derbyshire, Simplex has relocated to Wakefield to share the new office at Calder Park along with Bachy Soletanche’s Anchor, Grouting and Mini-pile division.
Bachy Soletanche purchased the firm from Norwest Holst, in order to gain increased resources including its rig fleet and skilled, experienced operators and engineers. With regional offices already in Lancashire, Hampshire, Glasgow and Cork, the new Yorkshire office will be a perfect base for engineers working on projects in the northeast of England. This is already paying dividends with Bachy Soletanche winning a number of tenders on projects taking place in the region.
To mark the expansion, Bachy Soletanche and Simplex Foundations will hold an official office opening on 2nd April 2009. Speaking of the upcoming event, Martin Pratt, Managing Director of Bachy Soletanche Limited, commented:
“As a strategic business move, the acquisition takes advantage of the synergy between the two companies. As such, it will expand the capacity of Simplex Foundations and for Bachy Soletanche will provide the extra plant equipment and engineers when required. The arrangement benefits everyone concerned and we are pleased to have Simplex on board and the office opening will celebrate that fact.”
