Thanks to Bachy Soletanche’s support, the One Can Trust foodbank has recently secured a £6,000 grant from the VINCI UK Foundation.

The One Can Trust is a charity based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, which provides emergency, weekly food parcels for local households facing financial hardship, as well as other essential services including a clothes bank, toddler group and cookery classes.

Due to its ongoing sponsorship of the VINCI UK Foundation, each year Bachy Soletanche’s employees have the opportunity to nominate a local, non-profit organisation to receive funding. If employees are successful in securing a grant for their chosen charity, they will also volunteer their time to support the organisation over a 12-month period.

The One Can Trust was nominated by Bachy Soletanche UK Zone ESG Manager Dave Belshaw, who has already been volunteering for the charity almost every weekend since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dave commented, “Due to the cost of living crisis, the charity has seen a vast increase in the number of people requesting their support.

“With the VINCI UK Foundation grant, the charity is now able to invest in a larger delivery van to meet the growing demand and continue serving those in need.”

The charity currently provides food for around 600 people a week in High Wycombe and the surrounding area – half of whom are children.

To apply for the VINCI UK Foundation grant, nominees must demonstrate how they are improving social inclusion and creating a positive, measurable and long-lasting impact on the local area. The foundation primarily funds local charitable projects that seek to improve access to employment and housing, promote inclusive mobility or strengthen social links within communities.

Through the support of its sponsors, the VINCI UK Foundation has donated almost £1.6 million to over 240 charities and community projects since it was established in 2016.
